Here at Enhance Cosmedic we offer a variety of different treatments including Botox and Dysport and also Dermal Fillers.

Botox and Dysport are one of the most commonly requested treatments to help soften lines and wrinkles.  They work by relaxing the muscles that create the lines that appear on the skin.  When injected into the muscle, it temporarily blocks nerve impulses that tell it to contract (and subsequently wrinkle the overlaying skin). The affects generally last up to 3-4 months.  The most commonly treated areas are the frown lines, forehead lines and the crows feet, however it can also be used to help soften a gummy smile, slim the jawline and help with teeth grinding and is also a very effective treatment for excessive sweating.

FAQ’s

Will I need an initial consultation?

Yes, you will if this is your first treatment at Enhance Cosmedic.  During an initial consultation we go through your concerns, discuss which treatments may be appropriate including risks and side effects and we also go take a medical history to ensure there are no contraindications for the treatment requested.

What are Botox and Dysport?

Botox and Dysport are prescription medicine made from a naturally occurring purified protein which relaxes muscles.

Where can Botox/Dysport be used?

Botox and Dysport are commonly used to treat lines and wrinkles on the face including frown, crows and forehead lines.  They can also be used to help with lip lines, a downturned smile or “pebbly” chin.  Other area that Botox and Dysport can help with is Bruxism (teeth grinding) and also for excessive sweating.

Is it safe?

Yes,  Botox has been used cosmetically for over 20 years with no known side effects.  The medicine is also used for over 300 medical conditions, usually in doses from 100-800 units per treatment whereas in cosmetic treatments the usual doses are of around 20 units.

If I start using Botox or Dysport, will I have continue for the rest of my life?

No, you can stop whenever you wish with out any averse effects.  the great thing about Botox and Dysport I that if you have a treatment and then for whatever reason decide not to continue, your muscles will go back to normal and the lines will gradually come back, but it you consistently have a series of treatments, then the muscles begin to be ‘trained” and the lines will take much longer to reappear.

Is there any downtime?

No, not really?  You can resume all normal activities straight after treatment however, we do recommend no vigorous exercise for 24 hours, no facials or massages for 1 week and avoid alcohol for 24 hours (to try and minimise bruising).

Can I have Botox or Dysport while I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

No.

When will I start to see results and how long do they last?

The full effects are seen at 2 weeks post treatment and usually last between 3-4 months.

How much does it cost?

It depends on how many units are required to achieve the optimal results and everyone is different which is why it is important to be seen for consultation to see how your facial muscles move and how strong they are but on average:

Frown $180-$300

Crows $240 – $360

Forehead $120-$180

What happens if I only “want a little bit”?

If we do not dose correctly we won’t achieve optimal results and what results we do achieve will not last as long.  Studies have shown that you are better to dose appropriately with treatments every 3-4 months than with smaller amounts every 2 months as over time resistance to the medication can happen where it stops working.
